Biography:
Taiwanese-born pianist Hsin-Hao Yang has established himself as an emerging talent on the international classical music stage. Born in Changhua in 1998, Yang's exceptional artistry has been recognized through prestigious scholarships and competition victories throughout Asia and North America. Currently pursuing his doctoral degree at the New England Conservatory under the guidance of renowned pianist Professor Wha-Kyung Byun, Yang previously distinguished himself as the recipient of the esteemed Carol T. and Robert P. Henderson Presidential Scholarship during his master's studies at the same institution.
Yang has been equally dedicated to performance and pedagogy throughout his career. As a committed educator, he has served as an instructor in both piano and music theory across multiple music schools in Boston, where his teaching portfolio spans remarkably diverse age groups—from nurturing musical foundations in five-year-old beginners to guiding the artistic development of continuing education students in their sixties. His performance career includes numerous appearances in the historical Jordan Hall, and with the Dallas Chamber Symphony Orchestra, where he delivered a compelling interpretation of Liszt's Piano Concerto No. 1 under conductor Richard McKay. His solo recitals have graced prestigious venues including Taiwan's National Concert Hall and exclusive performances at the Music Academy of the West.
His competitive achievements include winner of the 2025 Marion Rubin Berman Piano Honors Competition, first prize at the 2021 Music Academy of the West Solo Piano Competition, the 2018 Dallas International Piano Competition, CSUF Annual Concerto Competition, and the National Music Competition in Taiwan. Yang's artistic development has been enriched through full scholarships to elite summer programs, including the Patricia and Nicolas Weber Full Scholarship for both the 2020 and 2021 Music Academy of the West.
Yang's musical pedigree includes studies with distinguished pedagogues Pei-Chun Liao, Grace Chung, and Ning An. His artistry has been further refined through masterclasses with luminaries of the piano world, including Fabio Bidini, Mikhail Voskresensky, Dang Thai Son, Paul Schenly, and Conrad Tao, among others. As an alumnus of prestigious festivals including Piano Texas (2023), Art of Piano Festival (2019), Music@Menlo (2016), Interharmony Music Festival (2013), and the International Youth Piano Festival (2011), Yang continues to disseminate his distinctive voice through pedagogy and performance.
