Biography:
Stephanie Pfundt is a Boston-based soprano, composer, and educator with over 13 years of teaching experience. A sought-after voice teacher, she is known for her dynamic and intuitive approach that blends rigorous technique with creativity and exploration. Having studied with more than 50 of America’s leading teachers and coaches, she draws on a wide range of pedagogical traditions—from Italian bel canto to contemporary vocal science—to guide students toward healthy, sustainable singing across genres. As a performer, she has won multiple awards in the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, earned first place in the Seattle Opera Guild Competition, and recently co-produced and sang in Puccini’s Le Villi, a sold-out performance at the Dante Alighieri Society in Cambridge with more than 70 musicians.
Teaching Philosophy:
As a teacher, Stephanie is passionate about helping students develop both strong technique and musicianship. She believes that operatic singing—the “Olympics of singing”—offers principles that benefit every genre, and she adapts her methods to each student’s unique needs and goals. Her holistic approach emphasizes critical thinking, self-expression, and resilience, encouraging students to see mistakes as useful data and to cultivate the habits of lifelong learners. With experience in working with gifted and neurodivergent students, she fosters a supportive, individualized environment where artistry and curiosity can flourish.
