Sunyoung Maeng

Biography

Sunyoung Maeng is a collaborative pianist based in the Greater Boston area. She holds a Master of Music in Collaborative Piano from Boston University, a Graduate Diploma in Collaborative Piano from the Cleveland Institute of Music, and a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Gachon University in South Korea. She has studied under Shiela Kibbe, Anita Pontremoli, Christine Hill, and HyoungShil Hahn.


During her graduate studies, Sunyoung served as a graduate assistant in collaborative piano at both Boston University and the Cleveland Institute of Music, working with singers and instrumentalists in lessons, rehearsals, recitals, auditions, and performances.

Sunyoung has also worked as a collaborative pianist in Cleveland and South Korea, and is currently active as a collaborative pianist and piano teacher in the Greater Boston area.

She values the collaborative process of listening, communicating, and creating music together, and enjoys supporting each musician in bringing their own musical ideas and expression to a performance.
